Good Morning All,
Well, we have had a busy first day in DC. When we arrived we went straight to the City Gate headquarters to meet Kristin. She filled us in as to what we will be doing after our conference and what to expect from the children and parents we will be working with. We were also introduced to Ms. Vix. She will be our site director for our time with City Gate. After a short meeting of introductions and questions, we were off to the hotel. Talk about moving in; the girls have a conjoining room and have set up shop for what looks like a month. :) After making hotel rooms 407, 408 & 410 home, we parked the van at the church and went to find the metro to get ourselves to the conference.
For some the metro is challenging vertically and horizontally. :]
When walking to the conference center, we started finding other groups of teens. This is where the 10 from Maine become part of the 9,000. After registering, Josh takes the kids to go find dinner and Lacey and Holly go off to the leaders meeting. Our next adventure was THE BIG ROOM!!!!!! Speakers, music, skits, cartoons and paintings...and a bunch of screaming teens.
During our 4 days we will dive into the bible from Genesis to Revelations. It's going to be crazy, but amazing all at the same time.
More about Friday to come later...

Good Morning,
ReplyDeleteHaving traveled with teens I can imagine that the rooms look like they are camping out!!! But what fun!! Thank-you for the opportunity to follow you through this blog and thank-you Lacey, Holly and Josh. Mom Dresser
Yeah TEAM! You all are missed - and i am looking forward to seeing all your bright smiling faces on the big screen at church tomorrow morning! I am glad that the trip was rather uneventful - keep it that way. However, I hope and pray with you that the conference will challenge you in a way leaves you wanting so much more in your relationship with an incredible Savior.
ReplyDeleteRemember to wash your hands, hold hands when you venture out, listen to your leaders and get ready to BE/LOVE/SERVE and REPEAT!
I went out with my cousin Aaron to see the movie at Pickering Square last night, and then Bob and I went out to breakfast this morning (Dysarts!). The whole time I was thinking about all of you, and couldn't wait to get home and check out the blog. What a wonderful thing! Great picture-Alex, how did you get shotgun?! Praying for you-miss you-love you!
ReplyDeleteI leave for Chicago tonight, and will be back on Thursday. Sorry I will miss the Sunday meeting and won't see you-so sad!
Enjoy, learn, be, love, serve, repeat.....

Hi everyone - this is an exciting way to stay in touch and know what's going on!! Great idea. Each time I talk to someone from church, they're asking about all of you. Thanks for the texts / calls / etc... Looking forward to the skype tomorrow -- it's sort of like Oprah (she skypes people in all the time)!! This is big! The conference sounds exciting. Be open (in your hearts and minds). What a great experience for all of you - even the leaders! Karen's words of wisdom: don't share drinks, but drink plenty / wash your hands often / look both ways when you cross the roads / ride in the middle trains (Metro) / just try to remember everything you learned in Kindergarten (share, smile, hold hands, use your manners, etc...). Love you all.
