Commissioning Service

Is there anything more beautiful than a sunny Sunday and a Commissioning Service? That's right, today was our day and what a beautiful day it is. A majority of the sermon was dedicated to those going on the mission trip (youth and leaders). A few weeks ago at our Camp Molly retreat we planned this service from top to bottom. We choose the songs, we placed them accordingly, and we practiced as a group. Some of the highlights included praise and worship, testimonies and scripture reading.

Terra spoke of her first thoughts when the mission trip was in the planning phase and of what she is hoping to gain from this trip spiritually. She said, "I feel like what I most want to learn from this mission experience is how to teach children about God." She also said, "I hope you will be praying for me and the people going on the mission trip. We need prayer for safe travel and all the fears we may have going on this mission trip. Also, that you could pray for us to learn as much as we can through God."

Nicole spoke of her excitement to begin our fabulous journey. She said, "When we start VBS at City Gate it is going to be amazing to sing, dance, and shout praises to God with the children. I am curious to see kids' faces change throughout the time we are with them." We will be working with elementary aged children and our primary responsibility is music. Nicole also writes, "When I come back to church, I expect to be an on fire Christian full of joy, ready to share my experiences."

Our semi-theme for this mission trip has been STAND ON THE ROCK so it only seemed fitting that Katrina read Matthew 7:24-27. How true is this scripture to our mission trip?! Attending DCLA and joining forces with City Gate will indeed help us not only continue to build our foundation with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, but also we will be helping others build their foundation.

Oh the stories we will return with!!
